Avoid Snoring With These Helpful Tips

Snoring affects about half of our population. Up to half of the adults snore at some time. There are a lot of habitual snorers who keep us awake almost every night by their snoring. It’s no surprise that snoring affects 1 in 2 people at some point in their lives.

Do you have a loved one that snores at night and prevents you from having a good night’s sleep? Or are you a nuisance to your partners and friends with how much you snore? If you have ever woken up in the morning tired, cranky, and not having enough rest. Snoring might be the cause.

Check out these helpful natural snoring remedies to keep snoring to a minimum and get the most out of a restful night’s sleep:

  1.   Get Physical and Lose some weight.

If you want to reduce the amount of tissue in your throat that might be causing your snoring, you should try to lose weight. Most people who are overweight are up to two times more likely to snore. 1.   Change your Sleep Position.

Snoring often occurs when you are lying on your back when you sleep as it makes the base of your tongue and soft palate collapse to the back wall of your throat, causing a vibrating sound during sleep. Sleeping on your side or stomach may help prevent this.

Many sleep experts also recommend sleeping with a body pillow for added support so that you are more comfortably inclined to stay sleeping on your side. You may also opt to see other adjustable bed frames that can lift your head. Elevating the head of your bed by four inches may help reduce your snoring by keeping your airways open.

  1.   Limit / Avoid Drinking Alcohol before bed.

Alcohol reduces the resting tone of your muscles and causes you to snore. Try to limit or avoid alcohol 4 – 5 hours before your bedtime. A glass of wine or bourbon can be more quiet and relaxing. However, snoring occurs when your throat and lounge are relaxed.

  1.   Stay Well Hydrated.

Always drink plenty of fluids. We all know the positive benefits of drinking water and staying hydrated is always a good idea for a good night’s sleep. The secretions in your nose and soft palate become stickier when you’re dehydrated and it leads to mucus forming in your nose which could make you snore.

  1.   Change your Pillows.

The National Sleep Foundation tells us to plan on replacing pillows every year or two. It’s important to put your pillows in the air fluff cycle regularly to keep dust mites and allergens to a minimum. Allergens in your bedroom and in your pillow may contribute to snoring.

When did you last dust off your pillow? When was the last time you replaced your pillows? Having a clean and new pillow can prevent your snoring and may work well to fix your nasal issues.

Snoring can disrupt your sleep and that of your partner. It is annoying and it may also indicate a serious health condition. Follow these simple tips and have a snore-free night!
